Trainer checks
Pellavo is a social and booking marketplace connecting clients with independent trainers. Trainers offer and deliver their own services; Pellavo provides discovery, content, messaging, booking, payment facilitation and platform support. Pellavo does not employ trainers or supply the training sessions. Our application review determines access to the marketplace, not employment by Pellavo.
Find a personal trainer who fits your goals
Before services become bookable, we review the trainer’s Stripe account setup and relevant applicant linkage, qualifications or alternative competence evidence, service scope and declarations. Approval is at trainer level; we do not separately approve every session listing or every later edit. Other profile claims remain trainer-provided unless expressly checked.
Qualifications and individual review
Qualified PTs, including newly qualified trainers, are welcome. The standard PT route is a recognised Level 3 personal-training qualification or an accepted equivalent. Older and overseas qualifications can be considered. Applicants without the standard certificate can request individual review of relevant training, corroborated coaching history and other evidence of competence. Alternative approval does not award a qualification. Paid membership, follower counts and minimum years of experience are not blanket requirements.
Payment setup
Trainers use Stripe Connect to set up payments and payouts. Stripe may request identity or business information as part of its verification process. These checks are separate from Pellavo’s review of a trainer’s application.
Insurance declaration
Trainers must maintain insurance that covers them, their services, settings and participants, including online delivery where offered. This includes public liability and professional indemnity or advice cover as applicable to the services. Gym or employer cover must actually cover the trainer’s work. Trainers must satisfy their insurer’s conditions, including any qualification conditions; Pellavo approval does not override them.
We require an explicit declaration, not routine insurance-document uploads. We may request private evidence for specific concerns. A declaration is not independently verified insurance or expiry monitoring. Loss of appropriate cover must be reported promptly; affected booking availability may be suspended and existing bookings assessed. No universal monetary minimum is specified by this policy.
Review and activation
Applications can be approved, returned with a specific information request, or declined with reasons and a reconsideration route. Trainers choose Activate profile once the required approval, booking setup and trainer access are ready. An informational web profile can be published when the application is submitted, before the trainer is bookable. Trainers remain responsible for keeping their services within their competence and insurance cover and reporting material eligibility changes. Pellavo may review concerns and restrict accounts; approval is not continuous verification of credentials or insurance.
Limits and ongoing safety
We do not routinely perform criminal-record checks for ordinary adult fitness. Approval is not a guarantee of conduct, competence in every circumstance, safety, results or payment of an insurance claim. Not every trainer has a formal PT qualification. Individual credentials and any check labels must describe what was actually checked.
All participants must be 18 or over; no parent bookings for minors. Pellavo is for fitness services, not medical treatment, rehabilitation or specialist healthcare. Trainers must assess whether each delivery setting is safe and covered by their insurance; the platform does not independently inspect every venue. Trainers are responsible for appropriate pre-exercise screening, emergency arrangements, consent to physical contact and working within competence.

We assess concerns, restrict access proportionately and consider affected existing bookings; blocking does not resolve bookings automatically. Reviews are from completed Pellavo bookings.
